Closed-Cell PU Foam – Water-Based (FY-Spray 501W)

Per Set

The FY-Spray 501W is a two-component, spray-applied, closed-cell polyurethane foam system.
Formulated with water as the blowing agent (141b-free), it is environmentally friendly and delivers superior thermal insulation, waterproofing, and fire retardancy.

This product is designed for a wide range of spray-applied thermal insulation engineering projects such as:

  • Building exteriors & interiors
  • Cold storage rooms
  • Large-scale pipelines
  • LNG or LPG ships

Key Features

Eco-Friendly: Water-based, 141b-free, safe for the environment
Superior Insulation: Initial thermal conductivity ≤ 35 mW/(m·K)

Strong & Durable:

  • Compressive strength ≥ 160 kPa
  • Tensile strength ≥ 120 kPa

Dimensional Stability:

  • ≤1% change @ -30℃ (48h)
  • ≤2% change @ 80℃ (48h)

Water Absorption: ≤1%
Fire Retardant: DIN 4102-1 B2 rating

Physical Properties

  • Appearance: Pale yellow to brown viscous liquid
  • Viscosity (25℃): 400–800 mPa·s
  • Specific Gravity (20℃): 1.05–1.15 g/ml

Applications

  • Commercial and residential building insulation
  • Cold chain storage (freezers, cold rooms)
  • Industrial and marine pipelines
  • LNG/LPG shipping insulation

Water-Based PU Foam (FY-Spray 501W) vs. Non-Water-Based PU Foam
1. Blowing Agent (Foam Expansion)

Water-Based (FY-Spray 501W):

  • Uses water as the blowing agent.
  • Reaction releases CO₂ gas, expanding the foam.
  • Environmentally safe, no ozone depletion.
  • Non-Water-Based (HCFC/HFC, e.g., 141b, HFC-245fa):
  • Uses chemical blowing agents.
  • Some have ozone-depleting potential (ODP) and high global warming potential (GWP).
  • Many are banned or regulated worldwide.

2. Environmental Impact

  • Water-Based:
  • Ozone-friendly
  • Lower GWP
  • Compliant with current global regulations (EPA, EU REACH, Montreal Protocol phase-outs).

Non-Water-Based:

  • May contain restricted chemicals (e.g., 141b phased out in most regions).
    Higher environmental risk.

3. Foam Properties

Water-Based:

  • Slightly higher density foam (≥45 kg/m³ for FY-501W)
  • Excellent dimensional stability
  • Reliable fire retardancy (DIN 4102 B2)
  • May have a bit slower curing speed depending on temperature/conditions.

Non-Water-Based:

  • Can achieve very low thermal conductivity (slightly better insulation per inch).
  • Sometimes easier to process in cold weather.
  • But dimensional stability can be lower under temperature swings.

4. Health & Safety

Water-Based:

  • Safer for installers (fewer harmful emissions).
  • Reduced odor and toxicity during spraying.

Non-Water-Based:

  • Fumes can be more harmful, requiring stricter PPE & ventilation.

5. Cost & Market Use

Water-Based:

  • Slightly higher upfront chemical cost in some regions.
  • Growing demand due to eco-regulations and green building standards.

Non-Water-Based:

  • Historically cheaper, but regulations are limiting supply.
  • Still used in some developing regions without strict chemical bans.

Summary

4 in=10.16cm, 1 set can do about 110-130sqft.
6 in=15.24cm, 1 set can do about 75-85sqft.

Water-Based PU (like FY-Spray 501W):
Eco-friendly, regulation-compliant, waterproof, fire-retardant, long-term solution.

Non-Water-Based PU (HCFC/HFC):
Sometimes slightly better insulation efficiency but bad for the environment and being phased out worldwide.
