Big W Days: Two Days of Big Wins in West Edmonton
We are throwing a party at the West Edmonton store on Friday August 14 and Saturday August 15, and you are invited. No ticket, no membership, no sign-up sheet. Just show up.
It is called Big W Days. The W is for Big Wins, and there are three of them worth celebrating.
RSVP TO OUR EVENT NOW
But before we get into any of that, here is the single most important thing on this page.
The two days are not the same
We could have run the same sale twice. We did something better instead.
Friday August 14 is Double Bucks Day. Every dollar you spend earns two Wiener Bucks instead of one, and that one runs at every single Uncle Wiener's store, not just West Edmonton.
Saturday August 15 is 10% Off Day. Ten percent off the whole store.
Different deal each day. If you only come once, come to the one that suits how you shop. If you come to both, you get both. A lot of folks are going to do exactly that.
Win number one: we are saying thank you
Let us get the important part out of the way first. This event exists because of you.
The contractors who load up before a job. The farmers who come in for fencing and leave with three other things they needed anyway. The folks who drive in from Spruce Grove or Stony Plain because it is worth the trip. The regulars who know our staff by name.
You built this. So for two days, we are handing some of it back.
Both days, all day:
-
Free hot dogs, cotton candy, freezies and cold drinks (while supplies last, so come hungry and come early)
-
Early bird door gifts for the folks who show up first. Limited quantity, and when they are gone they are gone.
-
Bouncy castles for the kids, so you can actually look at the tool wall for more than four seconds
-
Bouncy castles for sale too, if the kids talk you into it
-
Door crasher deals at 9 am sharp, both days. We are not telling you what they are. That is sort of the point. Show up at nine and find out.
Friday August 14: Double Bucks Day
Here is what Friday looks like.
2X Wiener Bucks on every order, at every store.
This is the day Uncle Wiener's Rewards officially launches, and we wanted to do it properly. More on how the program works below, but the short version: normally you earn 1 Wiener Buck per dollar. On Friday you earn 2.
And this one is not just a West Edmonton thing. Every Uncle Wiener's store is running double Wiener Bucks on August 14. If your closest store is Chilliwack or south Edmonton or anywhere else in the chain, Friday is your day too.
Tent sale, outside, all day.
We are setting up in the lot with overstock, open box, and deeply discounted gear. This is Friday only, and it is the kind of thing where what is out there in the morning may not be out there by afternoon.
The Wiener Binz opens.
Friday is opening day for the bins, and it happens to be a Restock Day. $8 an item, freshest selection of the week. Much more on how the Binz works further down, because it is worth understanding before you come.
Flash sales all day, plus 10% off food items.
Announced as they happen. Watch our stories so you do not miss one.
Saturday August 15: 10% Off Day
Saturday flips to the discount.
10% off the whole store.
Tools, trailers, farm and ranch supplies, fencing, shop equipment, automotive, oil and gas gear, patio, outdoor, home decor. All of it, ten percent off. Up to $500 off per item.
If you have been eyeing something big, Saturday is the day to stop eyeing it.
The Wiener Binz gets restocked again.
Normally the bin price drops as the week goes on. For opening weekend only, we are restocking Saturday too, so it stays at $8 an item with fresh product. Two premium days in a row is not something we do again after this weekend.
Photo contest.
Get your best shot from the event and enter. The public votes on the winner after the weekend wraps, and the prize is a JBL speaker or headphones.
Full contest rules will be posted in store on event day. Ask at the counter when you come in.
One thing to know about Saturday: the 2X Wiener Bucks was Friday only. Saturday earns at the normal rate of 1 Wiener Buck per dollar. And the 10 percent covers the Uncle Wiener's store, not the Wiener Binz, which runs on its own bin pricing.
Win number two: Uncle Wiener's Rewards is here
This is the one we have been working on for a while, and it is dead simple.
Spend $1, earn 1 Wiener Buck. That is the whole earn rate. No decoder ring needed.
Then you spend those Wiener Bucks on real gear from our rewards catalogue. Not a coupon, not a discount code. Actual product. The catalogue runs from small stuff you can grab with a little bit saved up, right up to full size work benches for the folks who are in here every week. And it keeps changing, on purpose, because half the fun is checking what showed up.
The rest of it:
-
Free to join. No membership fee, no card to lose, no catch.
-
One account, one balance. Earn online, spend in store. Or the other way round. It does not matter.
-
Takes about 20 seconds to set up at the till, and there is a welcome stack of Wiener Bucks waiting for you just for joining.
-
Your Wiener Bucks stick around as long as you are shopping with us.
On Friday August 14, every dollar earns 2 Wiener Bucks instead of 1, at every Uncle Wiener's store.
One thing worth knowing: you need an account to get the double. No account, no 2X. So if you have been meaning to sign up, do it at the till on the 14th and start earning at double rate on that same order.
Win number three: Wiener Binz comes to the west end
A lot of you have never seen a Wiener Binz section, so let us actually explain how this thing works. It is not complicated, but it is different from normal shopping.
What is in the bins?
Big open bins, filled with a rotating mix of overstock, returns, surplus, clearance, and genuine what-is-this-doing-here surprise finds. Household stuff, small tools, accessories, toys, hardware, seasonal items, and things nobody can quite categorise. It changes every single week.
Here is the part that makes it fun: everything in the bins is one price, and that price drops every day.
-
Friday is Restock Day. Fresh product goes into the bins and the price starts at $8 per item. Best selection of the week, highest price of the week.
-
The price steps down each day after that as the bins get picked through.
-
Wednesday is Loonie Day. Everything left in the bins is $1 per item. Lowest price of the week, most picked-over selection.
-
Then Friday rolls around, the bins get restocked, and it starts again.
That is the whole model. One price for the bins, dropping through the week, resetting every Friday. The daily price is posted right there in store, so you always know what you are paying before you dig.
So which day are better for Wiener Binz?
Depends what you are after, and we will be straight with you about it.
Come early in the week if you want the best selection. More to choose from, more likely to find the thing you did not know you wanted. You pay more per item, but you are picking from a full bin.
Come later in the week if you want the lowest price. A dollar an item on Loonie Day is hard to argue with. But the bins have been dug through by then, and what is left is what is left.
Neither one is the right answer. Regulars have strong opinions in both directions. Some folks come twice.
The Big W Days exception
For opening weekend, we are breaking our own rule. The bins get restocked on Friday AND Saturday, so both days run at $8 an item with fresh product.
That means you get the top of the cycle twice in a row, which is not something that happens again. The normal weekly rhythm picks back up the following week.
Two honest notes before you come:
Binz inventory is limited, it changes constantly, and we cannot promise a specific item will be sitting there when you arrive. That is the whole point of a treasure hunt. Some trips you walk out with a story. Some trips you walk out with nothing.
Saturday's 10 percent off does not apply to the Wiener Binz section. The bins already have their own price, so the discount does not stack on top of it. Everything else in the store, the full 10 percent, on Saturday.

We have a few things we are not announcing yet. Follow us on Facebook and keep an eye on our stories through both days.
Bring the family. Bring the truck. Bring a friend who likes to dig.
See you at the bins.
